Entry #3: Best Laid Plans

I had plans for this week, I really did!

They were hand written on my beautiful note paper with a bee on the top. Usually, I make a list on Sunday night for the week, and totally understand that not everything will get done, so I just carry them into the next week. Well, I'm here to tell you that just about nothing was crossed off of this week's list, due to unforeseen events.

Between sinus and ear infections (Hubby), an urgent tetanus shot (me), our dryer's heat element going out, a screw in my car tire, and snow forecast for the later part of the week, we just hardly managed to keep it together. In fact, the week became a comedy of errors, and we laughed a lot. On the plus side, we have firsthand knowledge of our local Wash House eight load washer!

A picture of various sizes of washers at a laundromat. The wall is a mint green, and on the wall is a TV showing tiktoks.
The bins are ours!

Who knew they make them that huge!

(As I was folding our laundry out of the ginormous dryer, I couldn't help but think of those ladies of old, who would embroider their sheets and towels. One, probably to identify the linens' owner, and two, because they look so unique and beautiful.)

Another plus to this craziness is that I am now confident taking a screw out of my tire with pliers, and sticking a tar-goo-stick back in the hole. That great little kit was in my roadside emergency bag, and I heartily believe everyone should have one!

And the cherry on top of it all is the snow forecasted here in North Carolina. With it, comes a hurried pace at the grocery store; and no bread, milk, or eggs! That always makes me smile, because we rarely get snow. Besides, what are y'all doing with all that milk? Gonna eat an egg sandwich every day with snow on the ground?

There's also the possibility we might get nothing, like what happened last year. But Jordan's excited to try sledding down our little hill again. Fingers crossed!

Having a week like this allows me and my family to realize that there's bigger plans at work. Letting go of that To Do list, or preconceived notions of how life should go, is so freeing. And if that doesn't work, at least you'll have some good stories to tell! This Sunday night I'll try to make another list, but who knows how that'll go!

Best laid plans, amiright?
